Abstract/Contents
- Description
- This website was created as part of an exhibition that ran from January 26, 2014, to June 8, 2014 at the California Historical Society in San Francisco. The bilingual online exhibition explores the legacy of Juana Briones (1802-1889), a successful Californio rancher and business woman, who lived through under the flags of Spain, Mexico and the United States. Included are paintings, maps, portraits, legal documents, and artifacts that highlight her resilience, healing work, landownership, and cultural impact.
