- Includes a list of deaths, prices of supplies, verses of songs, a recipe for "cleansing the teeth" (the only item in English), notes of departures for family members (to Sulphur Banks, Lake County; Guadalupe, Los Angeles, Idria, etc.), and on the last page of writing, an account of the trip from Tepic to Mazatlán to San Francisco to San Jose to Hacienda de Nueva Almaden. Many different hands and inks.

- Cover page states "Tepic, Cal.," but inside on the first and second pages, and on several other pages states "Hacienda de Nueva Almaden;" there are also numerous references to San Jose and Santa Clara.
- Provenance unknown, but probably a transfer from Mary Sheldon Barnes' history class.
