- Note
- Wesley Hartley taught creative writing in high school in southern California in the late 1950s to early 1960s. These incoming letters were in response to letters Hartley wrote, asking well-known authors to assess the importance of formal high school and college education in their lives and for their writing career. It apparently was a project he shared with his students.
