The David Rumsey Map Collection was started in the mid 1980s and contains more than 150,000 maps. - This is the early 1845 issue with Iowa Territory extending north of the later state borders, Michigan counties undeveloped in the northern peninsula, the copyright date still 1833, and the smaller ornamental borders of the 1841 issue. Later in the year Mitchell changed the map substantially (see our #4223). The John Arrowsmith delineation is used in the Great Basin. Insets include the United States, south part of Florida, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, north part of Maine, Rochester, Niagara Falls, Albany, Baltimore and Washington, and Charleston. With black top and bottom rollers, and dark green cloth edging. Full color by county.
