In his foreword to this book, Derek Mahon notes that P.J. Kavanagh's poems 'elude the obvious categories. He has never been one of a "school"'. A poet of rural England, yet of Irish ancestry, Kavanagh 'has always stood slightly apart'. The first issue of the magazine for 2014, and a big anniversary, as the magazine's second series reaches the 100th issue. Originally appearing as a quarterly, the magazine converted to bi-annual publication in a larger format, but retained the previous numbering system, necessitating a shift to double numbers. Each new double issue was more than twice as large as one old one.
