A visual record of U.S. Marine and island life during the interwar years on Guam in 1930. The album consists of numerous scenes on the island, including images of Piti, Apra Harbor, several beaches, various beach structures, town architecture and infrastructure, animal life and jungle settings. Several of the images of native islanders and portraits of Marines and other Americans are present as well. The majority of photographs depict life for the U.S. Marines, and detail their activities, such as military exercises, parades, artillery practice, and camping expeditions. They also show the Marine facilities, such as the barracks and other military structures, as well as a number of military vehicles, naval transports and Marine aircraft. A small portion documents a contemporary trip to China. [From dealer description]
