An American woman travels to Tibet to deliver money to a mystic in a monastery from her sister in the U.S. The novel describes the obstacles she must overcome and her impressions of the country, including the environmental damage under Chinese occupation.
The papers include correspondence, research, and reviews relating to her major publications; manuscripts, and galley proofs. There are also audio tapes and a video tape of interviews with and by Charlotte Painter.
