Korean director Yoo Hyeon Mok, who passed away on June 28, 2009 at the age of 83, is one of the most legendary names in Korean Cinema. His debut film, Obaltan, is widely regarded as the best Korean film of all time by local film critics today. Yoo was honored with Best Director prizes at the Daejong Film Awards and Blue Dragon Films Awards throughout the sixties. Much of his films revolve around themes of ideological and religious conflicts. This 4-DVD Yoo Hyeon Mok Collection boxset comes with a booklet and four of his most classic films.

A death row inmate, Yun-su, and a college instructor and a suicide attemptee, Yu-jŏng, meet in the prison interview room every Thursday for three hours. They begin to understand each other and their precious time together meets inevitable tragic ending.

This is the story of the dreams, agony, discord and friendship of a group of country school boys before the beginning of Korea's economic boom in the late 50s and 60s. The story begins with Han Byŏng-tʻae, a lecturer at a college entrance preparatory institute, recalling his primary school days, 30 years ago. Byŏng-tʻae's father was transferred at that time into a rural area from his government office in Seoul. Byŏng-tʻae started attending the local school, there he meets Ŏm Sŏk-tae, the class monitor and bully. At first there is conflict between the two boys but eventrally Byŏng-tʻae submits to the oppression. A new teacher, Kim Chong-wŏn takes charge of the class and begins to put all the wrongs right by teaching the boys about equality, justice, truth, courage and democrary.

A young university student starts his two-year military duty and discovers that a former classmate is his new superior. As time passes, he struggles not to adopt the prevailing mindset of the military.
