"The archive contains nearly 4.5 million images from 45,000 manuscripts -- slightly more than half of all known volumes. They include prayer books, biblical texts and commentary, philosophy, literature and scientific writings, in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, Judeo-Arabic and more. The database, called Ktiv, Hebrew for "written word," is the culmination of a project conceived by Israel's founding prime minister David Ben Gurion. In 1950, Ben Gurion launched the initiative of ingathering Jewish texts scattered in libraries and collections around the world and bringing them to the fledgling state in the form of microfilms. The new database, a joint venture with the Friedberg Jewish Manuscript Society, takes that endeavor into the 21st century, with multispectral and high-definition images and an internet search engine. The National Library partnered with some of the world's largest collections of Jewish manuscripts, including the British Library, Parma's Palatina Library and the Vatican Library, in an effort to bring all the known texts under one digital roof."--Washington Post, Aug. 2, 2017.

The Digital Cicognara Library is an international initiative to recreate in digital form the remarkable private book collection of Count Leopoldo Cicognara (1767-1834). Though assembled in the Romantic era, Cicognara's collection of some five thousand early imprints still comprises the foundational literature of art and archaeology. Cicognara's famous, two-volume inventory of his library, the Catalogo ragionato dei libri d'arte e d'antichità, published in 1821 and often reprinted, remains an essential tool for scholars and bibliophiles. Still in development, this site currently features the 1821 Catalogo ragionato combined with modern bibliographic descriptions plus a limited number of images. The full Digital Cicognara Library will be built out gradually over the coming months. When complete, the application will consist of the full text of the Catalogo, integrated with digital images and full text of every title in the corpus, including black-and-white facsimiles of the original volumes in the Vatican; one or more high-resolution, color facsimiles of unique copies from partner libraries; and thorough bibliographic information. Thanks to generous support from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and partner institutions, the Digital Cicognara Library will be an open-access resource.

The Brill Dictionary of Ancient Greek is the English translation of Franco Montanari's Vocabolario della Lingua Greca. With an established reputation as the most important modern dictionary for Ancient Greek, it brings together 140,000 headwords taken from the literature, papyri, inscriptions and other sources of the archaic period up to the 6th Century CE, and occasionally beyond. The Brill Dictionary of Ancient Greek is an invaluable companion for the study of Classics and Ancient Greek, for beginning students and advanced scholars alike. Translated and edited under the auspices of The Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC, The Brill Dictionary of Ancient Greek is based on the completely revised 3rd Italian edition published in 2013 by Loescher Editore, Torino. Features * The principal parts of some 15,000 verbs are listed directly following the entry and its etymology. For each of these forms, the occurrence in the ancient texts has been certified. When found only once, the location is cited. * Nearly all entries include citations from the texts with careful mention of the source. * The dictionary is especially rich in personal names re-checked against the sources for the 3rd Italian edition, and in scientific terms, which have been categorized according to discipline. * Each entry has a clear structure and typography making it easy to navigate. "For a number of years now, scholars at ease in Italian have benefitted enormously from the riches, layout, concision, and accuracy of Professor Montanari's Vocabolario della Lingua Greca, with its added advantage of the inclusion of names. Hence classicists in general will welcome the English version of this very valuable resource." Professor Richard Janko, University of Michigan "Franco Montanari is a giant in our field, and his Dictionary is a major leap forward for us..." Professor Gregory Nagy, Harvard University.

"The field of Medieval Studies explores European and Mediterranean civilization from the 4th to the 15th centuries. This period, which has a critical importance for the understanding of Western culture, can best be approached through a combination of several disciplines, from history to literature, from art to archaeology, from religion to gender studies. As such, it is constantly responding to the emergence of new interpretations and ideas for scholars to consider. In addition to the extensive scholarship which already exists, much of the most recent work has moved online so that todays students and researchers have ready access to primary source texts and a range of other electronic resources. Managing the ever-expanding universe of scholarly information in this field of study has proved to be a monumental if not near impossible task. Oxford Bibliographies in Medieval Studies provides students and scholars with a reliable and authoritative solution to the problem of information overload." -- Publisher

- Summary

There is no truly complete edition of Albert the Great (ca. 1200-1280) works, and the age and the rarity of the most complete one (Opera omnia, ed. A. Borgnet, Paris, 1890-1899, itself based on Opera omnia, ed. P. Jammy, Lyon, 1651) render it hard to access for many scholars. The new critical edition (sometimes called Editio Coloniensis), begun in 1951 led by the Albertus-Magnus-Institut of Bonn, offers a much more reliable text but will not be completed before many more decades. Scholars can use the present website in order to : 1) download image files (.pdf) of all of Albert's works which can be found in the Borgnet edition as well as the 21 volumes of the Jammy edition, in addition to a few other writings which have been edited individually and which, like the Borgnet and the Jammy editions, are too old to be covered by copyright law; 2) search electronically 24 of those works, using a search engine which is endowed with boolean operators and which gives access to more than 4.1 million words (corresponding to more than 10000 pages in print); 3) browse those same 24 works on line.
