1. DataSearch [2016]
- Amsterdam, the Netherlands : Elsevier, [2016?]-
- Description
- Dataset — 1 online resource
- Database topics
- Science (General); Mathematical Sciences; Physics and Astronomy; Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Earth Sciences; Biology; Engineering; Medicine
- Summary
-
Research data is the foundation on which scientific, technical and medical knowledge is built. Oftentimes data sets do not leave the lab, or may go unnoticed as supplementary files. Elsevier provides solutions that support researchers to store, share, discover and use this data. By doing so authors are able to receive credit for the full spectrum of their work, and the wider research community benefits from the ability to discover and reuse the data. They are indexing images, tables and supplementary data from (Elsevier or Open Access) content sources, and are considering these to be research data components. They also index a series of domain-specific repositories, as well as non-domain specific ones.

"The mission of Grantome is to use data to drive discovery of new knowledge about scientific research grants. This knowledge can be applied to enhance the productivity and confer competitive advantage for researchers, institutions, and businesses that rely on grant funding. Towards this goal we have collected grant data from some of the world's largest and most prominent grant-giving organizations and assembled them into a single database. To facilitate discovery of the trends related to funding the specific needs of each client, we have built: a search engine that uses the latest technologies to quickly and efficiently extract large amounts of grant data from the database, a graphical interface for real time data plotting of the results of any search, data analysis services for a more in-depth exploration of any particular topic. At the launch of Grantome, grant data are available from the U.S. National Institute of Health, which will be updated weekly as new data become available. In the near future the database will be expanded to include the U.S. National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as federal grant organizations in Canada and Europe."--About page.

"The Book Citation Index is designed to enhance the powerful discovery and analysis capabilities of Web of Knowledge by incorporating comprehensive book citation data. Researchers can search for and identify the most relevant and esteemed literature along with the 12,000 peer-reviewed journals and 150,000 conference proceedings already indexed in Web of Knowledge, enabling users to navigate the links in citations across books, journals and proceedings. Books are indexed at the chapter level, resulting in improved searches and deeper insights into the citing behavior between books and the wider world of scholarly research.
Content for the Book Citation Index is comprised of scholarly books, both electronic and print, that present fully referenced articles of original research or reviews of the literature, and has been carefully selected based on well-defined criteria to offer the most significant literature available. The index consists of 25,000 books, dating back to 2005. Coverage is expected to rise to 30,000 books by the end of 2011, with 10,000 new books added each year."--Thomson-Reuters press release, Oct. 2011.

10. EuDML : The European digital mathematics library [2010 - ]
- Lisboa : EuDML, [2010?]-
- Description
- 1 online resource.
- Database topics
- Mathematical Sciences
- Summary
-
In the light of mathematicians reliance on their discipline's rich published heritage and the key role of mathematics in enabling other scientific disciplines, the European Digital Mathematics Library strives to make the significant corpus of mathematics scholarship published in Europe available online, in the form of an authoritative and enduring digital collection, developed and curated by a network of institutions. National efforts have led to the digitisation of large quantities of mathematical literature, primarily by partners in this project. Publishers produce new material that needs to be archived safely over the long term, made more visible, usable, and interoperable with the legacy corpus on which it settles. In EuDML, these partners will join together with leading technology providers in constructing the Europe-wide interconnections between their collections to create a document network as integrated and trans-national as the discipline of mathematics itself. The y will future-proof their work by providing the organisational and technical infrastructure to accommodate new collections and mathematically rich metadata formats, and will work towards truly open access for the whole European Community to this foundational resource, thereby retaining Europe's leadership in the provision, accessibility and exploitation of electronic mathematical content. EuDML will design and build a collaborative digital library service that will collate the currently distributed content by the diversity of providers. This will be achieved by implementing a single access platform for heterogeneous and multilingual collections. The network of documents will be constructed by merging and augmenting the information available about each document from each collection, and matching documents and references across the entire combined library. In return for this added value, the rights holders agree to a moving wall policy to secure eventual open access to their full texts.
