"The Heart of Polichinelle,” a film by Leonid and Larisa Alekseychuk. Choreography by Leonid Yakobson. Performed by the dancers of theater "Choreographic Miniatures.” Vladimir Zenzinov as Polichinelle, speaking with Yakobson’s voice. 00:00:00. Professional camera in the rehearsal studio of the choreographer. 00:03:09. September 1975. The film "Polichinelle" was banned for gross ideological errors and deviations from the principle of socialist realism. Director was fired. 00:05:07. "The Heart of Polichinelle” is the only lifetime film portrait of L. Yakobson. The tape includes choreographic fragments from the cycle "Rodin," "Pa de catre," "Exercise-XX," and "The Wandering Circus." The focus is Yakobson himself. Polichinelle - a street jester - attempts to make his audience see him as a person with heart and soul. In Alekseychuk's film, there are two Yakobsons - the real one, captured in rare documentary shots, and his double, the clown with painted tears. Both of them, Yakobson and his double, are dreamers. Only one wants to revive the abandoned greenhouse, and the other wants to bring into reality the productions that so far exist only in his thoughts. But the dreams of both will remain dreams.
