Collaborative learning, descriptive research, ICT competences, time factor, and e-learning

Since its founding, ICTs have formed an integral part of the educational activity of the UOC. From the outset, the university designed a specific, cross-programme course on digital literacy that has been evolving ever since in line with the needs of its students. The current basis of the course are the central ICT competences inspired by the Declaration of Bologna (Guitert & Romeu, 2008; Romero et al., 2010). The ICT Competences course uses a project-based working methodology to facilitate the progressive acquisition of ICT competences. Our current research is part of a wider research project that seeks to develop an evidence-based understanding of our students' opinions of the ICT competences course and how this could be improved by taking into account the perspective of learners. One of the specific aims of this research is to describe how the time factor affects the collaborative learning activities carried out on the course, taking into account descriptive research using the survey as a data-gathering tool. The data gathered demonstrate that the time factor is a key element in the development of collaborative online learning activities, where the best rated are those related to competences. By analysing the effect of an individuals' time planning on the group planning, we ensure that, in the view of the students, the first one allows the second to become a reality; it also contributes to the successful completion of the course project.

SOCIAL media, DIRECT selling, MARKETING strategy, and SURVEYS

The presence of social media has disrupted the way people live, behave and interact. Philippines is ranked number one as active social media users with an average of 4.17 hours per day. Direct selling businesses in the country continue grow each year, and have introduced new products and expanded new customer reach. With this information presented, the right use of social media will help direct selling businesses reach a wellengaged community of buyers. The research aims to develop relevant marketing strategies to promote the use of social media in direct selling. Descriptive research was being utilized with two sets of researcher-made questionnaires. A pre-survey activity was performed prior to the actual data gathering to validate the reliability of the survey tool. There were one hundred twenty (120) total respondents: comprised of one-hundred (100) direct selling customers and twenty (20) direct sellers, who participated in the data gathering process. Furthermore, the study will use frequencies, percentages, and weighted means for the data treatment. The findings of the study show that Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube are the most widely used channels among the respondents of the study. The extent of social media usage by the direct sellers is moderate and social networking site is the most preferred platform to use in doing direct selling-related activities to achieve convenience, productivity, product availability and market growth. PATIENT satisfaction, MEDICAL centers, MEDICAL care, and MEDICAL personnel

This study was carried out to determine the level of patient satisfaction with the services rendered by the Malasakit Center in Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center. It aimed to identify the service frequently requested by the patient and/or their representative and its frequency, as well as the level of satisfaction. This study employed descriptive research to describe the nature of the situation that existed in the study together with a survey questionnaire as the research instrument tool. The 125 respondents were selected through convenience sampling. The findings of this study revealed that most of the patients and their representatives' access Malasakit centers with the query on the document requirement. Eight other services were also sought from the Malasakit Center such as medical help/aid, follow up and status of the documents submitted. These services were rated with a high level of satisfaction with a weighted mean rating of 3.84. The study concluded that various services were accessed by the patients and/or patients' representatives. The patients' and/or patients' representatives' degree of satisfaction with the service of the Malasakit Center at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center is extremely high or highly satisfactory. The health practitioners will be educated and equipped to handle the services provided by the Malasakit Center as a result of these measures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Descriptive developmental research seeks to document, describe and analyze the conditions under which infants and children live and learn. Here, we articulate how open‐science practices can be incorporated into descriptive research to increase its transparency, reliability and replicability. To date, most open‐science practices have been oriented toward experimental rather than descriptive studies, and it can be unclear how to translate open‐science practices (e.g., preregistration) for research that is more descriptive in nature. We discuss a number of unique considerations for descriptive developmental research, taking inspiration from existing open‐science practices and providing examples from recent and ongoing studies. By embracing a scientific culture where descriptive research and open science coexist productively, developmental science will be better positioned to generate comprehensive theories of development and understand variability in development across communities and cultures. CHARTER schools, RURAL schools, STUDENTS, and PUBLIC schools

Ample research has explored the nature and efficacy of urban charter schools since the turn of the century. However, much less attention has been given to the rural charter school sector. Using data obtained from the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools from the 2018–2019 school year, we describe rural charter schools nationally in terms of the students they serve, school-level characteristics, and how innovative they are in their curricula, pedagogical foci, and the student populations they enroll. We then compare states in terms of the statewide policies that have been enacted. Compared to their rural traditional public school counterparts, rural charters enroll more nonwhite students and fewer students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Almost half of all rural charters are located in five states, and rural charters are more likely to have non-traditional grade configurations compared to schools in other geographic settings. Most rural charter schools are not affiliated with a CMO or EMO. Hawaii has the largest market share of rural charter school students and also has the greatest proportion of its charter schools located in rural areas. States that do not place caps on the number of charter schools that open were found to have more of their charter schools located in rural areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This descriptive research aimed to know students' problem-solving ability in arithmetic operations on algebra forms through an Indonesian realistic mathematics education, namely Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI), approach in secondary school number 17 Palembang. The learning process, material, and assessment used were principles and characteristics of PMRI. The data collection technique was done by two students' activities and the written test to measure students' problem-solving abilities. The written test, which referred to the indicators of problem-solving ability, was given after the learning process. This study's findings indicate that Palembang's context helps students comprehend algebraic arithmetic operations. The principles and characteristics of PMRI play an essential role in enhancing students' problem-solving skills. To conclude, students develop and solve problems by modeling based on their mathematical ideas. In addition, students must be able to develop problem-solving strategies in which they employ a variety of procedures.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the global economy. For small- and medium-sized businesses, particularly in the handicraft sectors, it was exceptionally difficult to maintain operations during a global crisis. Without crisis management plans in place, business owners run the risk of having their operations abruptly terminated. Therefore, the researchers sought to comprehend and study the factors that led to the shutdown and departure strategies of microenterprises (in the handicraft sector) during the pandemic. To conduct this study, a descriptive research design was used, and registered Indian micro-businesses in the Cavite region were specifically chosen. According to the study's findings, the majority of microenterprises were sole proprietorships with a capitalization of less than INR 600,000.00 (Asian Development Bank in The COVID-19 impact on Philippine businesses: key findings from the enterprise survey. http://dx.doi.org/10.22617/SPR200214-2 , 2020) and had been in business for three to six years. As a result, the respondents' most typical issues are Retooling and training of pandemic-sensitive enterprise strategies for micro-entrepreneurs, particularly in the handicraft sector, as well as research into the negative effects of lockdown on MSME, which are all examples of crisis-sensitive interventions among small industries (handicraft sector) entrepreneurs.
