The article discusses several guidelines in designing pc-boards (PCB) and creating a PCB layout-package footprints suitable for prototyping. These guidelines enable designers to quickly generate the needed PCB apertures including top copper footprints, solder-mask-stop apertures, as well as solder-paste-stencil apertures and to help carry prototype designs for laboratory testing. Engineers are able to automate the trial-and-error process of routing traces through the latest Computer-aided design software which offers intuitive graphical user interfaces and supports importing component and wiring information from associated schematic-drawing programs.
