With the aim of deriving regression equations for a non-destructive method of leaf area estimation the actual leaf area was correlated to the linear dimensions of leaf (maximum length, maximum width, main vein length, leaf petiole length), and to the calculated values (square dimensions and products of linear dimension values). Six cultivars and hybrids of Ribes rubrum L. and Ribes nigrum L. were used. After testing correlations by linear model Y=a+bx, the best-fitting regression equation enabling leaf area estimation was determined for each cultivar or hybrid
