Time Warner Interactive Group's $49 New Family Bible CD-ROM provides animated, narrated versions of several popular Biblical stories and is both entertaining and educational. It runs under Microsoft Windows and uses narration, music and watercolor-style paintings to bring characters such as Ruth, Moses and Noah to life. The stories are paraphrased but are likely to spark interest in the original texts for many users; New Family Bible contains the Revised Standard Version of the Bible as well as supplemental elements such as maps, genealogical tables and a pronunciation guide. The company's $39 Funny CD-ROM includes humor from the Three Stooges and others; it consists of 88 video clips in the Video for Windows format of people telling jokes as well as a variety of bloopers. It requires 4Mbytes of RAM and a 256-color display; the .AVI files play back fast and may overtax some multimedia computers.
