Abstract
The article reports on a building planned by Sikorsky for a Rapid Prototyping and Military Derivatives Completion Center at its Schweizer Aircraft subsidiary in Elmira, New York. The new center is a step in the long-range corporate strategy to increase capacity to meet the growing demand for military products. It will be branded the Sikorsky HAWK Works @ Schweizer Aircraft and be the primary completion center for all Black Hawk and Naval Hawk derivative aircraft-mostly for foreign customers.

Abstract
This article reports that the HD series of miniature rotary batch mixers can blend heavy or abrasive materials with bulk densities up to 80 pounds per cubic foot. This was invented by Munson Machinery Co. Inc. of Utica, New York. A rotating drum has proprietary mixing flights that tumble, turn and fold materials gently, to achieve full uniformity in two to three minutes, regardless of disparities in the bulk densities, particle sizes or flow characteristics of the batch ingredients.

Abstract
New York-based Charlex Inc. has opened a second company in its midtown space. Dubbed as Launch Corp., the new venture is a "visual prototyping" unit that offers animatics, photomatics, and the like. Essentially, Launch uses Eyematic's FaceStation software to obtain facial motion capture data in real-time, which is then imported to Alias/Wavefront's Maya for computer animation.

Abstract
The article announces that Sikorsky has begun ground testing of the X2 Technology coaxial-rotor high-speed helicopter demonstrator at its Schweizer Aircraft rapid-prototyping center in Horseheads, New York. Sikorsky is aiming for a cruise speed of 250 knots (kt) with the company-funded demonstrator, which features a fly-by-wire system that controls the speed of the rigid rotors throughout the flight envelope and integrates rotor, propulsor and engine control.

Abstract
This article reports that Kolatan/MacDonald showed its long-term project, Resi-Rise, using three new means of expression: a model made of Dupont Corian; a small but complex model made with rapid prototyping equipment; and a new kind of hologram. The 8-foot-high model, made of exterior Corian, was fabricated by Evans & Paul Unlimited, of College Point, New York. In the first part of the process, Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005 was used to drive a CNC router. This cut out plywood shapes, which were stacked to create a multipart mold. Two-by-3-foot rectangles of Corian material were heated until flexible, placed between halves of the mold, and sealed in a neoprene vacuum bag. The project was also illustrated in two dimensions using a recently developed type of complex hologram created by Zebra Imaging of Austin, Texas.
