Government regulation, AFL-CIO, and Asbestos removal -- Laws, regulations and rules
The Senate minority leader, Tom Daschle on June 24, 2004, proposed that Congress should establish a $141 billion no-fault trust fund to pay claims for asbestos exposure. However, AFL-CIO officials believe that the fund would not be sufficient to adequately compensate the victims while insurers have refused to increase their contribution beyond $46 billion.
