The article focuses on a report which shows that manufacturers saw electricity prices rose by 23% during the third quarter of 2008 in Great Britain. BDO Stoy Howard LLP stated that the rise has meant the electricity prices grew by an overwhelming 243% since the same period in 2007. According to Tom Lawton, BDO's head of manufacturing, the cost increases will have taken a significant toll on manufacturers' margins over the past year.

This article presents information matters affecting daily life in Great Britain. The U.S. Dollar will recover some lost ground early in the year but fundamentally the story for 2005 is that the general dollar weakness will persist. If one looks at gas and electricity prices, companies are typically finding their bills going up by 30% or more compared with the year before. While electricity and gas prices are rising relative to those on the content, it is not clear whether this will continue in 2005. There have also been some strange movements in the wholesale price of gas which has risen considerably.
