Klezmer music -- History, Musicians, Jewish -- Social aspects, and Hasidism -- Social aspects
Abstract
The Yiddish term 'klezmer' is derived from the Hebrew words 'kle' and 'zemer' which mean vessel or instrument and music, respectively. The term refers to Jewish musicians who observe the traditional Jewish dance music. The proliferation of the klezmer music in the US can be attributed to the migration of eastern Jewish between the period of 1880 and 1924. The klezmer tradition, which was brought to the US, has been initially influenced by Hasidism.

Church and state -- Analysis, Judaism -- Political aspects, and United States -- Religious aspects
Abstract
The separation of church and state mandated by the US constitution has led to religious plurality and an increasingly secularized society. Although the founders' intention was to create an environment of tolerance for all religions, modern interpretations of the constitution's provisions for prayer have led to the emergence of fundamentalists who position themselves as the religious right. In any case, the founding fathers' legacy has given American Jews the autonomy to practice their faith along side Christians unopposed.
