Cache Memory, System Design, Functional Capabilities, Performance, Data Management, and Quickware Engineering and Design 11-85 (Circuit board)
Computer performance can be inexpensively enhanced through the addition of cache memory, a small amount of fast memory placed between the slower main memory and the processor. Important cache design parameters affecting both cost and performance include cache size, cache organization, and line size. The replacement algorithm and the main memory update algorithm are also important components of cache memory. One cache memory upgrade board, the Quickware Engineering and Design QED 11-85, is examined in detail.
