Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry has begun a four-year, $840-million project aimed at developing an affordable rapid prototyping (RP) system. Present RP systems cost between $400,000-$1 million. The leading RP system manufacturer in Japan is Computer Modeling and Engineering Technology Inc.
