Abstract
The article critiques the artistic triumph of the Old English poem "Deor," particularly commenting on the poem's depiction of Germanic ethics. It explores the view of the poem as a traditional heroic poem, the three movements formed by "Deor"'s strophes, and the use of Germanic mythology and hardship in the poem.
