The article attempts to provide information on archives that will be of interest to academics. Potential topics of the archives range from new collections, film restorations and film festivals to accompanying documentation, such as information on holdings of the papers of corporations and individuals. The goal is to publicize ongoing activities of archives within a framework indicating their possible use to scholars. It informs that the west coast branch of the Museum of Television and Radio opened in the spring of 1996 in Beverly Hills, California. At the Ottawa SCS conference, a project of the Motion Picture/Broadcasting/Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress was previewed during a special workshop.
