Notes on chemistry lectures taken by Solomon S. Barnett at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in the City of New York. Most of the notes are from November 1883 through December 1884, with a couple entries from 1885. Though not named in the notes, previous cataloging indicates Charles Frederick Chandler was the lecturer, and he was the Professor of Chemistry at the time. Topics discussed include electricity, water, elements (carbon, chlorine, lithium, aluminum, copper, mercury, arsenic, etc.), organic compounds, and heat. The laid-in leaves include notes from 1884 and 1885 and vocabulary for chemistry and physics.
