She needs to earn as much money as she can to support her three college-age daughters in Seoul, although they think she runs a dress shop. Their success means everything to Bun-i. However, Seong-hui (LEE Kyoung-hee), the eldest daughter, upsets Bun-i with her decision to marry an aspiring novelist and truck driver (KIM Jin-kyu). Dong-hui (KIM Hye-jeong), the second daughter, lives up to her mother's expectations, involving herself romantically with a boy from a wealthy family (LEE Sang-sa). After Dong-hui's romance ends, she comes to Busan to find her mother, but Bun-i has been imprisoned for smuggling. After her release, Bun-i finds out that Dong-hui works as a bar girl at the club next to Bun-i's. The youngest daughter, Yang-hui (TAE Hyun-sil) gets married and plans to study music abroad. Her final violin recital before her departure is held in Busan, and she finds out what kind of job her mother has. Consumed by rage, she rejects her mother at first, but swiftly regrets her anger. She goes to see her mother and apologize, only to learn that Bun-i has committed suicide."--Container.

"Toba Peres can speak, but not shout; sleep, but not dream. She can write with both hands at once, in different languages, but she keeps her talents hidden at her grandparents' behest. Naftaly Cresques sees things that aren't real, and dreams things that are. Always the family disappointment, Naftaly would still risk his life to honor his father's last wishes. After the Queen demands every Jew convert or face banishment, Toba and Naftaly are among thousands of Jews who flee their homes. Defying royal orders to abandon all possessions, Toba keeps an amulet she must never take off; Naftaly smuggles a centuries-old book he's forbidden to read. But the Inquisition is hunting these particular treasures--and they're not hunting alone. Toba stumbles through a pomegranate grove into the mirror realm of the Mazik: mythical, terrible immortals with an Inquisition of their own, equally cruel and even more powerful. With the Mazik kingdoms in political turmoil, this Inquisition readies its bid to control both realms. In each world, Toba and Naftaly must evade both Inquisitions long enough to unravel the connection between their family heirlooms and the realm of the Mazik. Their fates are tied to this strange place, and it's up to them to save it."--Dust jacket flap.

After hiding out on American soil for 5 years, 36 year-old Ruben Figueroa decided to return home to Mexico. Understanding the struggle of living in fear, Ruben has since set out to find Latin Americans that have disappeared in Mexico. Ruben is always on the road in search of "Desaparecidos". Most originating from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, dozens of thousands each year decide to cross Mexico to get to the United States. Some die of thirst, others are murdered or imprisoned and some are pained with the shame of having failed. Alone, Ruben succeeds in finding the missing persons each year with just a few clues from their families such as simply a name, a photo, or a tattoo. He then reconnects them with their families, sometimes after years and years of separation.

In June 2000, 58 Chinese nationals were discovered in a truck at Dover Ferry Port in the UK. Packed like cattle in a container with no air, food or water, they suffocated to death. An estimated 100,000 Chinese people entrust their lives to human smugglers or 'Snakeheads' every year. For huge fees, they are promised a new life in the West. - Summary
-
Untill the civil war in Syria, China has always been the largest country of migration - half a million Chinese move every year to another country. Coming to the host countries legally or illegally, they often manage to develop an independent economic position. But so far, their involvement in social issues is limited. Nearly two decades ago, Chinese immigrants were smuggled to Greece along the similar route as the current refugees. Suzanne is one of them. Before moving to Greece, she had developed a successful business in Bulgaria. When the refugee crisis arises, Suzanne decides to organize a Greek Chinese volunteer team to help as redemption towards her past. It is not easy - Suzanne struggles to persuade business-minded Chinese bosses and companies to join and has to face the sarcastic attitude of Western volunteers. Suzanne's dominant character also does not help. Against all odds, Suzanne gains a lot in such a process, so do her teammates. The film is an inside story about overseas Chinese who have been moving around the world - their pains, struggles, and their ways for survival - but also what they are leading for in the modern time when China has become a world power of economy. On top of that, when the entire humanity is under attack by extremism, we hope to tell a story of hope for 'symbiosis' where the old Chinese immigrants may be of help for the newcomers to find a way out in their host country.
