The Parliament of Canada in collaboration with the Library of Parliament initiated a project to reconstitute the early debates of the Senate from 1867 to 1870, and of the House of Commons for the years 1867 through 1874, using newspaper reports of the day as the source of information. Official reporting of the debates of Canada's Parliament began in 1871 in the Senate and in 1875 in the House of Commons. Prior to this, there was no official record of what was said in Parliament.

This collection consists of inter and intradepartmental memorandums, reports, position papers, summaries, maps, photographs, and despatches (from US Foreign Service officers and military personnel) relating to the internal political affairs of China and United States foreign policy toward China. Materials in this collection focus mainly on military and political aspects of the Chinese civil war and United States intervention in that conflict. Records include background material on US efforts to negotiate a settlement between the Chinese Nationalists and Communists, Sino-Soviet relations, US military operations in China, the activities of Chinese officials, US financial assistance to the Nationalist Government, and the question of recognition of Chinese Communist regime. For each chemical substance indexed in RTECS, six types of toxicity data are included: (1) primary irritation; (2) mutagenic effects; (3) reproductive effects; (4) tumorigenic effects; (5) acute toxicity; and (6) other multiple dose toxicity. Specific numeric toxicity values such as LD50, LC50, TDLo, and TCLo are noted as well as species studied and route of administration used. For each citation, the bibliographic source is listed thereby enabling the user to access the actual studies cited.
