A very early manuscript map, possibly the first, of what was to become the town of Whitingham, Vermont. Included are three tracts: one of 10,000 acres "patented" to Nathan Whiting and a group of nine associates in 1767; another tract of 3,000 acres granted to Whiting for his service in the French and Indian Wars; and a third of 3,000 acres granted to one Capt. McCloud. Also shown are the Deerfield River to the west and the Northfield River to the east, and the chain measurements of the three grants, as well as those of the four borders, on a scale of 40 chains to one inch.
