The film presents an emotional picture of the struggle of some survivors, whose personal memories tend to be overshadowed by the heroic myth held up by the authorities. That myth is in painful contrast with the horrific truth they were forbidden to mention all these years.

The film is based on the event happened during the World War, 1939-1945. Pskov Mission existed in the period from 18 August 1941 to February 1944. The purpose of the Pskov Orthodox Mission was to restore the church life. Many priests for their participation in the Mission were repressed by the Soviet government and received 25 years in prison, others have left their homeland forever and died in exile, and the Baltic Exarch Sergius (Resurrection) was killed.
