This page is the starting point for the USPTO's free patent databases covering patent grants (full-text since 1976, full-page images since 1790), and patent applications (published since 15 March 2001). Patents issued between 1790 and 1976 are searchable only by patent number and current U.S. classification. Patents issued after 1976 may be searched by any keyword.

The Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences (PSIPS) web site provides Sequence Listings, tables, and other mega items for granted US patents or published US patent applications. All sequences (SEQ ID NOs.) and tables for listed patents or publications are available for viewing, without downloading, by accessing the proper document detail page and then submitting a SEQ ID NO or a mega table ID number. At present, this system acts as a storage and retrieval site for Sequence Listings that are at least 300 pages (roughly 600Kb), mega table sections that are at least 200 contiguous pages, and other mega items. The data have been included in either a granted US patent or a published US patent application. Shorter Sequence Listings and tables are accessible via Patents-, and Applications-, on-the-Web home pages. Using PSIPS, you can view or download individual sequences or tables, or you can download the entire Sequence Listing, mega table section, or other mega item. Mega information is stored and retrieved via PSIPS because it is too large to publish elsewhere. The data are placed on a separate system because inclusion in the image and text files of the systems underlying EAST, WEST, PatFT, and AppFT, would impair system performance. Mega Sequence Listings have been stored in PSIPS since February 2001 and mega tables since January 2007.
