"Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II (COFGT-II)" will provide the first point of entry to the literature for all scientists interested in chemical transformations. Presenting the vast subject of organic synthesis in terms of the introduction and interconversion of all known functional groups, "COFGT-II" provides a unique information source documenting all methods of efficiently performing a particular transformation. Organised by the functional group formed, "COFGT-II" consists of 144 specialist reviews, written by leading scientists who evaluate and summarise the methods available for each functional group transformation. Also available online via ScienceDirect featuring extensive browsing, searching, and internal cross-referencing between articles in the work, plus dynamic linking to journal articles and abstract databases, making navigation flexible and easy. By systematically treating each functional group in turn the work also identifies what is not known, thus pointing the way to new research areas. This book follows the systematic layout of the successful 1995 "COFGT" reference work, based on the arrangement and bonding of hetero-atoms around a central carbon atom. The work will save researchers valuable time in their research as each chapter is written by experts who have critically read and reviewed the literature and presented the best methods of forming every known functional group.

Research data is the foundation on which scientific, technical and medical knowledge is built. Oftentimes data sets do not leave the lab, or may go unnoticed as supplementary files. Elsevier provides solutions that support researchers to store, share, discover and use this data. By doing so authors are able to receive credit for the full spectrum of their work, and the wider research community benefits from the ability to discover and reuse the data. They are indexing images, tables and supplementary data from (Elsevier or Open Access) content sources, and are considering these to be research data components. They also index a series of domain-specific repositories, as well as non-domain specific ones.

The Dictionary of Natural Products (DNP) is a comprehensive structure database containing over 226,000 natural products. Closely related natural products (e.g. where one is a glycoside or simple ester of another) are organised into the same entry, thus simplifying and bringing out the underlying structural and biosynthetic relationships of the compounds. Structure diagrams are drawn and numbered in the most consistent way according to best stereochemical and biogenetic relationships. In addition, every natural product is indexed by structural/biogenetic type under one of more than 1000 headings, allowing the rapid location of all compounds in the category, even where they have undergone biogenetic modification and no longer share exactly the same skeleton. There is extensive (but not complete) coverage of natural products of unknown structure, and the coverage of these is currently being enhanced by various retrospective searches.--(cf. "The Household Products Database 'links over 4,000 consumer brands to health effects from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provided by the manufacturers.' A consumer or scientist can search or browse by product name, chemical, or MSDS. Household products included are those usually found under the kitchen and bathroom sinks such as Comet Cleanser with Chlorinol and SOS Steel Wool Pads. A search of the Comet brand name retrieves all products containing that brand name. Records for each product contain a physical description of the product, its purpose, the manufacturer with address and telephone numbers, health effects, safe handling and disposal information, and ingredients from the product's label and/or Material Safety Data Sheets. One especially nice feature is the ability to highlight a word or phrase on the product information page and generate an automatic search of TOXNET (http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/) simply by clicking on the button provided. This is a valuable resource for both consumers and scientists who need to quickly find contents, health effects, or safe handling instructions for common household products"--Reviewed Mar. 20, 2004, "Best Free Reference Web Sites 2004, " RUSA Quarterly, Fall 2004. "This website, originally created in a collaboration between The British Pharmacological Society (BPS) and the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) and now developed jointly with funding from the Wellcome Trust, is intended to become a "one-stop shop" portal to pharmacological information. One of the main aims is to provide a searchable database with quantitative information on drug targets and the prescription medicines and experimental drugs that act on them. In future versions we plan to add resources for education and training in pharmacological principles and techniques along with research guidelines and overviews of key topics. We hope that the IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY will be useful for researchers and students in pharmacology and drug discovery and provide the general public with accurate information on the basic science underlying drug action. The information in the database is presented at two levels: the initial view or landing pages for each target family provide expert-curated overviews of the key properties and selective ligands and tool compounds available. For selected targets more detailed introductory chapters for each family are available along with curated information on the pharmacological, physiological, structural, genetic and pathophysiogical properties of each target. The database is enhanced with hyperlinks to additional information in other databases including Ensembl, UniProt, PubChem, ChEMBL and DrugBank, as well as curated chemical information and literature citations in PubMed."--About page, viewed March 28, 2017.

Cambia created the Lens to create transparency in the patent system, and to serve the public worldwide as a platform to explore, understand and improve its impact on society. The Lens informatics tools can assist the user to determine the boundaries of intellectual property constraints on deliverable innovations, and usable building blocks for future innovations. The key to the Lens is that Cambia is creating an integrated, worldwide, open-source and open access resource that will allow community-developed analytical tools, patent landscapes and decision support software to be created and shared. The Lens enables cartography of the innovation landscape, allowing navigation from an idea to a product (or service) and back again. This makes producing new value in society quicker and more affordable. In short, our goal is to make the world's innovation system navigable by anyone for anything. The Lens is an extension of work started by Cambia in 1999 to render the global patent system more transparent, called the Patent Lens. The Lens is a greatly expanded and updated version of the Patent Lens with a vastly more data and greater analytical capabilities
