Collection includes video tape of the event, text of the speech by Gerhard Casper, color photographs from the event, computer printouts of the exhibit panels on display, copies of historical photographs, and an 1989 booklet on the history of HP. Speakers at the event included John Freidenrich, Morris Doyle, Gerhard Casper, David Packard, and William Hewlett. Edited into the video tape are two videos shown during the event: one piece on the science and engineering quad on campus and FOUNDERS OF THE FUTURE, about Hewlett and Packard and their involvement with Stanford.

Audiocassettes include the John Cage events, 1992; lectures by Martha Nussbaum, Kathleen Sullivan, Bliss Carnochan, Joseph Brodsky, Susan Sontag, J. M. Coetzee, Carlo Ginzburg, Lawrence Weiskrantz, Charles Bernstein, Pina Bausch, Bei Dao, Marjorie Garber, Homi Bhabha, Wolfgang Iser, Larry Levine, Thomas Crow, and Steven Pinker. Other events on audiocassette include the colloquium "What's Left of Enlightenment?, " 1997; talks and discussions from "Shape of the Humanities #2: Philosophy and Other Humanities, " 1999; and the symposium "Whitehead's Account of the Sixth Day" with Isabelle Stengers, Donna Haraway, and Richard Rorty, 2006 [on CD].

Materials processed under an NHPRC grant between Oct. 2011 and Sept. 2012 (371. 25 linear feet) consist of 443 manuscript boxes, 136 record storage boxes, 7 flat boxes, 3 card boxes, 20 map folders, and 10 rolls. The records are comprised of: behavioral risk assessment surveys; social marketing campaign materials, including HIV/AIDS prevention posters and flyers; community outreach and workshop materials; volunteer training materials; correspondence; grant proposals; fund development materials; administrative records; photographs; posters; audio and video recordings; and computer files and born-digital materials. Materials from accession 2014-022 were processed in 2014-2015 and consist of records, outreach material, posters, banners, and other material.

The Bay Area video arcade photographs were taken in 1980 and 1981 at several locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. The locations include the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, the Exploratorium (site of the 1981 Atari Asteroids competition), and other arcades in Oakland and San Francisco. Materials include 84 black & white prints and approximately 650 35mm images on contact sheets with their negatives.
