Frederic Krueger zeigt anhand der Edition von fast 600 koptischen Ostraka, dass sich in Leipzig und anderen Sammlungen große Mengen von koptischen Ostraka befinden, die nicht, wie es meist der Fall ist oder pauschal angenommen wird, aus dem Theben des 7./8. Jh. stammen, sondern aus dem südlich angrenzenden Gebiet der Bezirkshauptstadt Hermonthis im 6. Jh. ? ein bislang archäologisch vernachlässigter und papyrologisch kaum greifbarer (Zeit-)Raum. Neben ?mikrohistorischen? Eindrücken vom alltäglichen Leben im bislang obskuren Kloster des Apa Hesekiel zeichnen sich ebenso ?makrohistorische? Dimensionen ab: Die Ostraka dokumentieren die letzten Jahrzehnte der frühesten Phase (vom 4. Jh. bis ca. 600) der Entwicklung des koinobitischen Mönchtums im Gebiet der südlichen Qena-Nilbiegung, die bislang nur in ihrer ?mittleren Phase? des 7./8. Jh. in Theben West detailreich greifbar war. Auch die Kirchengeschichte während der kritischen Zeit des 6. Jh. gewinnt papyrologische Konturen: Apa Andreas ? Abt, Priester, Bischof und ?Vater aller Mönche der Ökumene? (d.h. wohl: ein überregionaler Klösteradministrator) in der neuen monophysitischen Kirche ? ist der große Protagonist unter den Ostraka, die oft von seiner Hand geschrieben sind und wahrscheinlich in den Trümmern seines Archivs gefunden wurden

Missverständnisse, Eingriffe und Druckfehler prägen die Rezeption eines Werkes, das im Laufe der Jahre zwar Liebhaber*innen, aber nie ein Massenpublikum gewinnen konnte und mittlerweile dem Vergessen anheimfällt. Zum einen zeigt die Studie auf, dass Klassifizierungen als Nonsens-, Kinder- oder Trinkerliterat dem Westberliner Malerpoeten Günter Bruno Fuchs nicht gerecht werden. Anhand exemplarischer Interpretationen wird die Komplexität der vermeintlich einfachen Texte aufgezeigt. Fuchs verfasst keinen Unsinn, er schreibt vielmehr gegen blinde Staatsgewalt, gegen alles Militärische, Spießige, Bornierte an. Zum anderen bietet die Arbeit ein nahezu vollständiges Verzeichnis von Medien (Text, Bild, Ton), die mit seinem Namen in Verbindung stehen. Die Auswertung dieser umfangreichen Materialsammlung offenbart eine Vielzahl an Irrtümern und Verfälschungen. Diese "Fehlergeschichten" machen die vorliegende Monographie zu einer durchaus unterhaltsamen Lektüre
