Offering a dialectical interpretation of contemporary Argentinian history, this book examines important economic and political developments after 1930, from the standpoint of class interests in conflict. The author argues that early governmental policies of industrialization generated a power struggle between the agrarian and industrial middle classes, as well as between the bourgeoisie and the working class, which led to increased political and economic instability, an erosion of institutional legitimacy and, finally, State terrorism.
