A biography of Louisette Ighilahriz, a young woman who joined the Algerian national liberation movement after her father was seized by French colonial authorities in the mid-1950s. Ighilahriz searches for "Commander Richaud", a French military doctor who liberated her from the group of French soldiers who were imprisoning and torturing her. She also discusses her difficulties adjusting to life after the revolution, and reflects on the state of modern Algerian society.
