The research applications include basic atomic and nuclear physics studies with ion beams of energies less than 10 million volts. The applications include the use of ion beams for the analysis of materials. In the proceedings, experiments are outlined for Rutherford Backscattering analysis, particle induced xray emission, nuclear reaction analysis and neutron activation analysis. There are also sessions devoted to accelerator technology and the development of new spectrometers and detectors. The meeting also covers radiation processing with electron beams. These topics include crosslinking, sterilization of medical disposables and food preservation by radiation. The conference also includes a medical symposium on the production and use of medical radioisotopes and a symposium on ion implantation primarily for the semiconductor industry.
