CPS Utilities provide compressed data, documentation, and extraction software for the Current Population Surveys. These Earner Study files are released through the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Included are the basic questions for each of the twelve months as well as the special set of earners questions. The latter provide information about weekly versus hourly pay and union membership. The questions are asked of the portion of the population that roughly corresponds to wage and salary workers (self-employed persons in incorporated businesses are excluded). These data are collected in the two outgoing rotation groups as a part of the basic CPS labor force interview. The Outgoing Rotation series presents all twelve months of data for the two outgoing groups (i.e., households in their fourth and eighth months of survey participation). The annual sample size is therefore about three times greater than that for any individual month.

Includes the basic and supplement data files.
"The food security questions were asked of all interviewed households, as appropriate. The supplement was intended to research the full range of severity of food insecurity and hunger as experienced in the U.S. households. Based on this research, the USDA has developed comprehensive food security measurement scales and food security status indicators. Please be advised, however, that responses to any of the supplement's individual items are not, taken alone and in themselves, meaningful measures of food insufficiency, food insecurity, or hunger, and should not be used as such. The two earlier files (1976-1977) have a different and more limited focus than the later files"--Publishers' Web site.
