Summary:
Berta Gersten plays Mirele, a noble, dignified widow and successful businesswoman who comes into conflict with the daughter-in-law she chose for her eldest son. Her generosity and love for her son lead to her undoing. Based on Jacob Gordin's popular Yiddish play, the film is set in turn-of-the-century Grodno. A classic study in the relations between mothers-and-daughters-in-law.
