Summary:
Collection includes correspondence, minutes, reports, publications, financial records, and other materials. The President's records consist largely of correspondence but also include some reports, memoranda, agenda, minutes, and other materials. Typical subjects include athletics, social events, the Honor Code and Fundamental Standard, ASSU elections and committee meetings, public service and philanthropy efforts, the student union, and relations with student governments at other universities. Legislative records contain agendas, minutes, memoranda, resolutions, reports, correspondence and other materials of the ASSU Senate and various committees. The Student Manager records consist largely of bound volumes of reports from or about various clubs, committees, or events in an academic year. Bound student police reports (largely pertaining to crowd control at campus events) for 1939-1963 are also in this series. Records of the Treasurer include bound volumes of the Student Financial Managers’ Reports along with other reports, minutes, budgets, and financial records. General records are those files not assigned to other series pertaining to meetings, projects, events, committees, commissions, workshops, and general administrative issues. Organization records largely consist of bound reports from the Dramatic Council and the Publications Council and bound volumes containing constitutions and by-laws of student organizations.
Note:
The ASSU was organized in October 1891; each registered student is a member. The ASSU works to represent the interests, needs and perspectives of Stanford students.
