Public use tape giving detailed 1987 income and expenditure data for U.S. consumers. Includes listings of family characteristics and income, individual characteristics and income, monthly family expenditures, monthly family incomes, inventory of major household appliances, purchases of household appliances, inventory and purchase of owned vehicles, disposal of owned vehicles, and trips and vacations.

Accompanied by a printed codebook (153 leaves ; 22 x 29 cm.) and 2 tapemaps ([19], [13] leaves ; 22 x 29 cm.).

Responses: 23,536 families; variables: 357.
Methodology:
National probability sample of households designed to represent the total U.S. civilian noninstitutional population. Each consumer unit interviewed every 3 months over five consecutive quarters. Twenty percent of the sample was dropped and a new group was added each quarter.
